The Theatricality of Solitude
In his works, Victor projects the “theatricality of solitude,” portraying his existential, personal, and social anxieties in a romantic and caricatural manner. The “stage” is constructed from mundane objects and props, which attune the atmosphere of the narrative. The “actors” embody the artist’s psyche, contemplating the playful expression of the subconscious. This raw and claustrophobic setting stands in tension with the subject’s expansive intensity. The works address themes such as narcissism, isolation, psychosis, depression, and burnout.
The absence of visual hierarchy and the restrained use of color reinforce the importance of each element within the constructed narrative. A single vanishing-point perspective, applied systematically, further contributes to the depiction of a theatrical atmosphere. The works carry a strong expressionist character, with clear influences from naïf art.
